Design study

The idea, in context.

The first view from the street should make the offer easy to understand. A long display counter places bread and pastries on the arrival route, with ordering and collection further along. A window-side bench offers a slower visit without interrupting the queue. Behind the counter, the sequence from storage to preparation and service shapes the design as much as the finishes do.

01 /The brief

Give a neighbourhood bakery a recognisable counter and a comfortable place to pause.

02 /What shapes the layout

Separate ordering, collection and preparation; allow queueing without taking over the seating route.

A counter that does the work.
DETAIL /A closer look

A counter that does the work.

A visible display, a durable working surface and storage below form one clear service edge. The detail study explores material junctions; equipment dimensions, hygiene requirements and supplier details would be coordinated separately.

DESIGN / FROM PLAN TO DETAIL

Follow the decisions.

Read the numbered plan alongside the room views, then see what the next design stage needs to resolve.

01 / Display, order, collect

The plan marks a continuous service edge; the counter view develops its display and material character.

Next design check

Confirm equipment sizes and counter task positions with the operator before fixing the joinery.

02 / Window-side seating

Seats occupy the window edge, while the layout keeps a separate route along the counter.

Next design check

Test queueing, occupied chairs and accessible movement together on the measured plan.

03 / Preparation & support

The back-of-house zone stays distinct from the customer-facing room.

Next design check

Coordinate deliveries, waste, extraction and services; identify each item in the fit-out scope.
